Dogear is built to keep your reading private. The short version: we collect nothing.
What we collect
Nothing. Dogear collects no personal data, requires no account, and contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. Its App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected.” Your documents, reading progress, and quiz results are stored only on your device.
On-device AI
When your iPhone supports Apple Intelligence, Dogear generates reading passages and comprehension quizzes using Apple’s on-device foundation model. The text you read and the prompts used to generate quizzes never leave your device — there is no Dogear server. On devices without on-device AI, Dogear uses built-in passages and does not transmit your text anywhere.
Data you create
Text you paste, your reading sessions, and your statistics live in the app’s local storage on your device. Deleting the app removes this data permanently.
Notifications
If you turn on the optional daily reading reminder, it is scheduled locally on your device. No notification data is sent anywhere.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date. Because Dogear collects nothing, changes are unlikely.
