Getting started
Open Dogear and tap Read today’s passage, or tap + to paste your own text. Choose word-by-word (RSVP) or guided-highlight mode, set your speed, and start reading. When you finish a passage, take the quick comprehension check — your speed and comprehension are tracked together on the Progress tab.
Common questions
Why are my passages “samples” instead of AI-written? On-device AI requires an Apple Intelligence–capable iPhone (iPhone 15 Pro or newer) running iOS 26+ with Apple Intelligence enabled in Settings. On other devices, Dogear uses its bundled passages — each of which still includes a real comprehension quiz.
Where did my place go? Dogear saves your position automatically. Reopen a document and it resumes exactly where you left off.
How do I change the reading font or text size? Open Settings inside the app — reading font, text size, bold word starts, pause-at-punctuation, pivot guides, haptics, and the countdown are all there.
How is my comprehension-safe speed calculated? It’s your fastest pace with a quiz score of at least 80%. Read faster without dropping below that bar and it goes up.
Is my reading private? Yes — Dogear collects nothing. See the privacy policy.
